RULES AND REGULATIONS

Nunavik Minor Hockey Program

 

 The tournament will be played in accordance with Hockey Quebec / Hockey Canada rules with the exception of NMHP tournament committee regulations.

 

1.     Open to all Nunavik Communities

  • No Body checking allowed.
  • Rules Applied as laid down by Nunavik Minor Hockey Program and Hockey Quebec.
  • 1 (30) second Time Out Allowed per team per game
  • 9-10 years of age players for atoms, 11-12 years of age players for Peewee, 13-14 years of age for Bantams, 15-17 years of age for Midget. (see Hockey Quebec’s Age Chart for 2019-20)
  • Category Jumping – Players may join a (Higher Category Only) if players are in the last year of their respective Category.
  • Players Must be at their dressing rooms 15-30min. before the Game
  • Referees Decision is Final, Talking back to a referee (Automatic)

Ejection of the game.

  • Any player intoxicated with either drugs or alcohol or smell of alcohol will not be permitted to play. Officials on the ice will make the call
  • Line Changes will be strictly enforced by Referee’s during each Game.
  • Teams Made by NMHP Officials are Final

 

Round Robin:

  • 5 Min. Warm up starts on the clock
  •  Puck Drop on time of a scheduled game (Game start right after 3 min warm up)
  • 3 x 15 Minute Periods. Last 5 min Stop Time 3rd period.
  •  Minimum of  5 Players and 1 Goalie REQUIRED TO START THE GAME. Or 6 players without the Goalie
  • If leading by 7 goals or more after 2 periods , 3rd period will be running time regardless the score difference Gap becomes closer
  • If tied after regulation time, 5 min. overtime 4 on 4, if still tied 3 player shootout with home team deciding which team goes first.3 players must be different, if still tied repeat shooters allowed
  • On the team standings, there will be no ties, only wins, losses, and Overtime losses. Win= 2 pts. Loss=0 pts. OTL= 1Pt.
  • Ice re-surfaced after each game
  • In a shoot out losses, the losing team earns 1 point.

              Winner earns 2 points and will be as a win.

               

 

 

 Playoffs:

          8 Teams will make the playoffs.

         

          Higher ranking team after the round robin will be home team

          5min. warm-up.

          3 x 15 Minute Periods. Last 5 min Stop Time 3rd period.

          Ice re-surfaced after each game.

          If tied after regulation time, 10 min. overtime periods

          Until a goal is scored.

 

Tie breaker:

         Wins

          Head to head

          Goal differential

          Goals for

          Goal against

 

 

 

 

2.     A maximum delay of fifteen (15) minutes will be permitted after scheduled time for each team to be on the ice. After this delay, the team present will be declared the winners provided they have five (5) minimum required players.

 

3.     Icing Rule: the defending team is not allowed to make a change of lines after an icing call.

 

4.     PENALTIES:

A.     During running time in period: 3 minutes – Minor

                                                                5 minutes - Major

B.     During stop time in period: 2 minutes - Minor                                                                                                                                                                                                                      5 minutes – Major
  1. Player making 3 straight penalties will get a game misconduct
  2. Double Minor penalty for Checking
  3. 2-min penalty for a defending player shooting the puck over the glass in the defending zone
  4. Any player being penalized for fighting will be automatically expelled.

 

5.     Any player disrespecting or found guilty of intent to injure a player, referee, volunteers or organizing committee will be automatically Suspended from the upon the conditions set by the tournament committee.

 

6.     The Nunavik Minor Hockey Program, after reviewing any discretion in writing, reserves the right to any final decisions.

 

7.     Each player must wear the mandatory C.H.A. helmet.

 

8.     Also mandatory to use neck guard.

 

9.     Each team will need a hockey bag, Mandatory

 

10.   In the case of a two-way tie after Regular Season games, the tie breaker will be determined as follows: (if three(3) or more teams are tied, the tie breaker will be determine starting from +/- most goals, less games, less OTL

 

11.   The Nunavik Minor Hockey Program is not responsible for the loss or damage to any articles or equipment during the League.

 

12.   Absolutely NO drugs or alcohol beverages will be permitted in the dressing room or arena premises. Tournament security will patrol the dressing rooms before and after each game. Any team found using or in possession with alcohol beverages or illegal drugs in the dressing rooms will lose that game by default. 1st warning expulsion of the the player, 2nd warning expulsion of the whole team.  

 

13.   Schedule Subject to change without notice, Always Pay Attention.

 

14.   All rules and regulations are for the sole purpose of the participants. The tournament Committee will ensure that these rules are properly followed and protected to ensure the safety and well being of the players. Any failure to acknowledge these rules will not hold the NMHP Committee & Recreation Department accountable.

 

15.    Jerseys. Each team is assigned jersey 1 color jerseys
